City are through to the Irish Cup sixth round after sealing the deal tonight, beating Premiership side Ards at the second attempt, after disappointment 10 days ago.
The visitors took the lead in a flat first half, with Willie Faulkner putting the ball past Sean Morgan on 15 minutes. But City, as in the first half, battled hard, stayed in the game, and came out all guns blazing in the second half.
Stevie Murray had City level within 10 minutes of the break, before Ultan Lennon headed in to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead on the hour mark. Murray added a third from the spot, as Marty Rice’s side sealed famous victory to set up a tasty tie on 8 February, when cup holders Glentoran will visit Holm Park.
Superb attitude from the whole team after having victory snatched from their grasp in injury time of the initial tie.
