The club membership of Armagh City FC formally agreed to enter into a partnership arrangement with Fundacion Marcet at an Extraordinary General Meeting on Thursday night. The meeting had been called after an EGM the previous week had raised concerns about the changes proposed to the club constitution as part of the agreement. Over the following days the management committee discussed these concerns with Fundacion Marcet and an amended proposal was passed on Thursday.
Speaking after the vote, club chairman Philip Johnston said “I look forward to a successful partnership with Fundacion Marcet. Both Armagh City FC and Fundacion Marcet intend to make Armagh City FC a force in Irish League football, but it will not be an overnight success. We have a long term set of goals in which we intend to use both of our set-ups and all of the expertise within both clubs to achieve our joint aims.”
Now that the partnership has been confirmed, the club can focus on planning for the new season, and the chairman continued, “This is all very new and a first in Northern Irish football but I’m very excited to be a part of it. I want Armagh City FC to be as successful as possible both at senior and youth level. I want a club that we can all be part of and proud of and I feel this partnership can help us achieve this. This is an exciting time in our history and I look forward to a successful future”
